Orlando Magic forward Serge Ibaka is yet again the subject of trade rumors that is spreading in the news nowadays. As the NBA trade deadline is fast approaching, reports are floating that his time with the Magic team is coming to an end. And one team that said to be interested in acquiring him is the Miami Heat.

Ibaka, who was acquired by the Orlando Magic from the Oklahoma City Thunder thru a trade in the offseason, is reportedly on the trading block once again. The Magic organization has high hopes for the 27-year old power forward to lead the team to a decent performance this season. But expectation seems to be not happening, as the Magic could only muster 20 wins out of 56 games.

Many pundits are saying that the experiment of bringing Ibaka to the Magic camp has failed and with his impending free agency also looming, trading him right now could be a right choice for them. And it appears that the Magic will don't have a hard time of getting a trade partner for him.

According to FOXSports, the Miami Heat are gunning for a spot in the postseason and considering a trade for Serge Ibaka before the trade deadline is a viable option for them. Just last month, the Heat appears to be heading to an early exit after having only an 11-30 win-loss record but they have a sensational run recently winning 13 straight games making their playoffs hopes still alive.

With only 2 games behind the 8th seeded Detroit Piston, going after Ibaka appears to make sense for the Heat. The Miami Heat are still missing the services of power forward Chris Bosh after being not cleared to play because of his health condition. And with Bosh future still unclear, Ibaka will be a perfect replacement for him to give the Heat some added versatility and depth on their roster.

Sir Charles In Charge also reported that Serge Ibaka is still young at 27 and in the midst of his prime which could play a big factor for the Heat. He is currently putting decent numbers of 15.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game with a 38.5% shooting percentage beyond the arc which is quite impressive for a big man like him.

Aside from that, the Heat could also take advantage of his defensive presence as he is averaging almost 2 blocks per game. If ever the trade pushes thru, their tandem of Hassan Whiteside in the frontcourt could be a potent combination and could give scare to other teams.

Will the Miami Heat pursue their interest in acquiring Serge Ibaka from the Orlando Magic?
