Trade rumors about Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez are gaining steam to news nowadays. Latest reports are saying that the New Orleans Pelicans are said to be interested in acquiring him before the trade deadline ends. Will the Nets release their franchise player?

The Nets are still having a hard time of finding their rhythm in the ongoing regular season. They are currently dead last in the Eastern Conference standing holding a 9-44 win-loss record. And it seems that they are heading for another disappointing season this year if they won't make a move on upgrading their roster.

On the other hand, the Pelicans are also not having a good showing this season. Many are saying that they lack some support for Anthony Davis who is carrying most of the load for the team. Recent news is spreading that they are now taking steps to solving this issue by plunging into the trade market and make a deal.

According to FOXSports, aside from looking to a possible Jahlil Okafor trade, the New Orleans Pelicans are also reportedly showing interest in acquiring Brook Lopez. The Pelicans are engaging in several trade talks for a couple of weeks looking for a capable backup for Anthony Davis and one of those are with the Philadelphia 76ers.

However, the 76ers is asking for a first-round pick which the Pelicans want to be protected. With the deal with Philadelphia still unclear, New Orleans are looking for alternatives and it appears that Brooklyn has the asset they are searching for. Reports are saying that it would be a viable move for the Pelicans if they will pursue Lopez to the Nets.

According to Nothin' But Nets, Anthony Davis cannot do it all by himself and now considering Brook Lopez as a potential candidate to support him. No other big men from the Pelicans' roster seems to be contributing well for the team and only 3 players are averaging double figures in points including Davis.

Lopez is averaging 20.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game this season and it will definitely be a big boost on the Pelicans' offensive end if ever the deal pushes thru. Aside from that, Lopez is also averaging almost 2 blocks per game that will even tighten the interior defense for them.

Will Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez possibly head to the New Orleans Pelicans before the trade deadline?
