This Monday, Microsoft released a new firmware update for Surface Pro 3 which runs Windows 10. The firmware update is titled "Surface Pro UEFI (3.11.2050.0)" in Windows Update.

This update simply improves the overall performance and provides more stable and secure system experience. The new firmware update for Surface Pro 3 will be installed automatically if a user has selected automatic installation option on Windows Update.

If a user has switched off automatic updates then the user can update manually by going into Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and selecting the "Check for updates" option.

As written in Digital Trends and MSPoweruser, there are also two new updates for the Surface Pro 3 provided by Intel in addition to the new firmware. Other updates include Intel HD Graphics Family 20.19.15.4568 and Intel Display Audio 6.16.00.3197 which improve Miracast and docked video performance.

This system update for the Surface Pro 3 follows the last update released in November which addressed a specific component of the firmware. The patch ensures that the Surface Pro 3 do not completely rely on the battery.

The firmware updates fixed an issue if battery's full charge capacity which was misreported to the operating system and firmware. Microsoft released Surface Pro 3 back in June 2014 which was replaced by the Surface Pro 4 in October 2015.

There are many rumors about the latest Surface Pro, Microsoft Surface Pro 5 but there is no official news from the company. Microsoft released Surface Book with better performance and Surface Studio all-in-one PC in October last year.

However, Microsoft is expected to release Surface Pro 5 after major Windows 10 Creators Update this spring. Currently, they have reduced the price of Surface Pro 4 model to $799 which was available before for $999.

Some users have reported that their Microsoft Surface Pro 3 works faster than ever with this update. Meanwhile, many users are waiting for Surface Pro 5's release to upgrade their device.
