Carmelo Anthony still headlines the rumor mills that swirling the news as of late. After his controversial statement last Sunday, Anthony and New York Knicks president Phil Jackson was able to meet and Melo was able to say straight up to Jackson that he wants to remain with the team. But recent reports are saying that if ever things will still not pan out with Melo and the Knicks, the Los Angeles Lakers could be a possible destination for him.

The Lakers are continuous on its descent in Western Conference standings. After a great start, they stumble to consecutive losses proving that the Lakers young core is not clicking and experience in closing out games is missing. Now, reports are saying that if they'd like to get an easy way of reviving their season while it is still early, they could go after Anthony.

On the other hand, Melo has been the leader of the New York Knicks since he arrived with the team in 2011. However, with Knicks' consecutive losses lately, frustration caught up with Anthony and expressed his unhappiness with the current situation of the team. He is said to be tired of taking the blame whenever the team loses but never credited when the team wins.

And now, reports are saying that Anthony might be a perfect fit for the Lakers lack of experience. According to Metro.us, the Los Angeles Lakers are just one superstar away from having a great season and trading for Carmelo Anthony could be a viable option for them.

Surely, Melo will bring in his vast experience being in the league for 13 years that could also help guide the young players for the Lakers. Aside from experience, his production of 22.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.1 assists will surely boost their offense. But who will they offer as trade pieces for Melo?

According to CBSSports, the Los Angeles Lakers could throw in a package of guard Jordan Clarkson, guard Lou Williams and forward Luol Deng as trade offers to the New York Knicks for Carmelo Anthony. This is not bad for a return for the Knicks acquiring one young and two veteran players that are solid contributors.

However, having this trade won't mean that the Lakers is assured of a postseason appearance rather it only give them a better chance of competing for that position. Meanwhile, the Knicks might ask for more for Anthony, maybe a future draft pick, unless the Lakers don't have much in terms of draft picks.

Would the Los Angeles Lakers be the best trade destination for New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony?
