Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay is once again in the hot seat of rumor mills as of late. His name is frequently being mentioned in numerous trade deals nowadays. And it seems that the Boston Celtics is one potential destination for him before the trade deadline ends.

The Celtics are one of the busiest team during the offseason looking for capable players that can make their roster a competitive one. And they got one of the biggest acquisition in Al Horford from the Atlanta Hawks but it seems that they are not satisfied yet. The Celtics are said to be still in the hunt for an able superstar to help them for their push going to the postseason.

On the other hand, it is no secret that Gay future with the Kings is not clear as early as last summer. He's been very vocal about his frustration with the situation of the team and already pronounced that he will opt out on his contract with them. But with Gay performing very well for the Kings this season, will they let him go and get a player that they truly needed?

According to A Royal Pain, as the Sacramento Kings would want a point guard improvement, trading Gay to the Boston Celtics would make sense for both teams. Trade scenario is suggesting that the Celtics will send sophomore point guard Terry Rozier to the Kings for Rudy Gay. The trade would give both teams the players they wished for.

The Kings need a dependable point guard who can stabilize their backcourt and it seems that Rozier is an ideal target for them. Rozier has proven that he can do the playmaking tasks behind Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Smart. With a fully stacked guard on their roster, it will not be hard for the Celtics to let go of Rozier and get a reliable superstar.

Having Gay will surely give the Celtics a proven scorer and a good post up player. They will definitely benefit from Gay's impressive stats of 18.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists this season. He would offer an aid to the wing and can play the power forward spot alongside Horford if they want to play small ball.

However, the alleged deal between the Boston Celtics and Sacramento Kings will not work under NBA trade and salary cap rules as the Celtics will be over the salary cap once Rudy Gay's incoming salary will be absorbed as verified with ESPN NBA Trade Machine. Unless, the Celtics will unload some players and include it to the trade to free some cap space for Gay's salary.

Will it be a good move for the Boston Celtics to acquire Rudy Gay from the Sacramento Kings before the trade deadline?
