Brandon Knight name is again hitting the latest trade rumors as of late. After being quiet for quite some time, newest rumors are saying that he is placed again on the trading block by the Phoenix Suns. And now, one report are recommending that the Cleveland Cavaliers should take advantage of getting him before the trade deadline ends.
The Cavs are having a spectacular showing in the ongoing regular season. Leading the Eastern Conference division with a 28-10 win-loss record, it doesn't mean that they are assured of easy passage to the NBA Finals this time.
As many teams have improved their roster, LeBron James have expressed his concern about a spot that they should fill in. A spot where they are vulnerable and could doom their chances of defending the title and he is pointing to the point guard position.
According to King James Gospel, the Cleveland Cavaliers badly needs a backup to starting point guard Kyrie Irving who said to be need to rest and not further aggravate his recurring injury. And it seems that Brandon Knight could be a viable option for them.
Knight have been superb for the Phoenix Suns the past two season. However, with the emergence of Devin Booker last season, he saw his spot taken by Booker as his playing minutes was also decreases that consequently resulted in his poor production.
Obviously, he is not happy with his current situation and with his new role under Suns new head coach Earl Watson. Frustration might caught up with Knight and he could ask his way out. And the Cavs could greatly benefit of him but who will the Cavs offer to the Suns?
Trade scenario is suggesting that the Cavs will send Iman Shumpert to the Suns in exchange for Brandon Knight. However, the direct swap between Knight and Shumpert will not work under NBA trade and salary cap rules as verified with ESPN NBA Trade Machine. But, if the Cavs will use Mo Willams' trade exception salary worth $2.194-million, this would be enough to make this trade push thru.
Could the Cleveland Cavaliers be the new home for Phoenix Suns elite guard Brandon Knight?
