According to the Evening Standard (via Goal Transfer Talk), Chelsea have found a way to unlock the FIFA 15 ultimate team feature in real life. Per the report, the club is ready to use Oscar as bait to lure Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba to Stamford Bridge in a £60 million deal.
As if that wasn't outlandish enough, the Blues are also keen on landing Real Madrid center-back Raphael Varane and Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke.
Marco Reus, Gerard Pique and Lionel Messi—yes, that Lionel Messi—have all been linked to Chelsea in previous transfer hogwash, so this latest report should come as no surprise.
It should also come as no surprise when we say it has no foundation.
Raphael Varane
First, the Varane rumor that refuses to go away. At some point, the British media failed to recognize that Real Madrid extended the 21-year-old's contract last November, tying him to the club until 2020. Varane's biggest wish was for playing time at the Santiago Bernabeu, something he has enjoyed due to injuries sustained by Sergio Ramos and Pepe. With a shiny new contract and a wish fulfilled, there's no signs of his departure in the immediate future.
Koke
The same applies for Koke. The future of the Spanish national team, under hot pursuit from Barcelona, also extended his contract in 2014. Fortunately for Chelsea, it'll only run until 2019.
Paul Pogba
Lastly, Pogba. Contract extension. Five years. Same story.
Even his teammate Alvaro Morata can attest to his happiness in Turin: "He's young and he's among the best in the world," Morata said (via ESPN FC). "But he's happy at Juventus with the rest of us."
With three star players signing extensions that will see their value increase, Chelsea will either unlock a video game feature in real life or break Financial Fair Play with this rumor.
Our money is on the latter.
