The 28-year-old has nine league appearances for Zenit St. Petersburg this season, posting an impressive five goals and five assists in the process. His form has returned and according to Sky Sports, it's credited to the arrival of manager Andre Villas-Boas.

"I have the experience of working with Villas-Boas in Porto and I'm happy to work with him again," he said last April. "After several weeks here, I can say his arrival has lit us up. Now, we work really hard during the whole week to come into the weekend's match at the top of our form."

"Every day we understand better and better exactly what our manager is expecting from each of us and how we should play," he added. "I feel really strong motivation to win the Russian title this season."

Like Villas-Boas, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho holds a reputation for getting the most of his available talent. Under Mourinho's guidance, newly acquired striker Diego Costa has nine goals in just seven appearances.

With a price tag of €100 million, Mourinho will be expected to get similar production from Abramovich's latest target.
