Bill Goldberg and Brock Lesnar are set to face each other for the final time at WrestleMania 33 and it will be for the WWE universal championship. According to the latest WWE rumors, Goldberg vs. Lesnar III is not going to be as short as their match last November at Survivor Series.
When Bill Goldberg returned to the WWE late last year, his first match in over a decade only lasted one minute and 26 seconds. He defeated Brock Lesnar at the Survivor Series while squashing Kevin Owens in 22 seconds to win the WWE universal title at Fastlane.
The 49-year-old superstar also lasted just three minutes and 23 seconds in the 2017 Royal Rumble. According to Cageside Seats, Bill Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar III could be the shortest WrestleMania main event in WWE history.
The record is currently held by Bret Hart vs. Yokozuna at eight minutes and 56 seconds that happened at WrestleMania 9. There is belief backstage in the WWE that Goldberg vs. Lesnar III is going to last longer that their Survivor Series match but it is still going to be a record for the shortest main event in WrestleMania history.
As for the outcome of the match, many fans believe that Brock Lesnar is going to come out as the new WWE universal champion by finally conquering his rival. However, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that there might be some changes to the match, per Sportskeeda.
The WWE creative team reportedly wants to change the outcome of the match with Bill Goldberg retaining the WWE universal title. The reasoning for the possible booking is to swerve the fans since the WWE universe knows that "The Beast" is coming out of WrestleMania 33 as the champion.
However, these are just rumors at the moment and nothing has been confirmed. The WWE tends to change their plans up to the last minute of the event. WrestleMania 33, the ultimate thrill ride, is happening on Sunday, April 2 at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
