Andy Murray, who is currently ranked no.1 player has spoken about Roger Federer saying his win in the 2017 Australian Open was "incredible". Murray also thinks there is a lot to learn from the Swiss Tennis Master.
Federer - who is 35 years of age - entered the tournament after his six-month knee injury but went on to win the tournament and his 18th Grand Slam title after defeating his rival Rafael Nadal in the final 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
Murray was elimated from the tournament when he lost to Germany's Mischa Zverev in the fourth round. Murray finally spoke about the Federer's win and Nadal. "It's incredible what he did in Australia after such a long break," Murray said and added, "We play so much -- a lot of the year. Sometimes coming to events fresh can have some huge advantages. Him and Rafa were both coming back from a pretty significant period of time out and they both played extremely well. Maybe that's something we can all learn from moving forwards" as reported in ibtimes.
Murray had a successful start to 2016 where he became the first player to win a Grand Slam, ATP World Tour Finals, Olympic men's singles and Master's 1000 title altogether in a calendar year.
Federer will join Murray at the second installment of the Andy Murray live exhibition event held at the SSE hydro Glasgow on November 7. Murray also said about Federer in ESPN, "It's really good he's doing it. He's just extremely popular. He's one of the best players that's ever played the game. It's not just how much he's won, but the way he plays and how he carries himself. He said a few years ago he wants to go to places he's not been. It's great!"
Andy Murray has decided to take rest for the first round of Davis Cup 2017 and Leon Smith is currently leading Great Britain.
