Golden State Warriors superstar Draymond Green made a daring declaration—it's bust or championship. With the Warriors' pickup of Jimmy Butler on the NBA trade deadline, Green believes the Warriors are headed for another NBA championship.
During TNT's broadcast of the 2025 NBA All-Star Game at Chase Center, Green didn't beat around the bush regarding the Warriors' fresh vitality and expectations.
Green Doubles Down on Championship Prediction
Not afraid to speak his mind, Green went a step further with his assurance via NBC Sports.
"I'm sorry, I said I think we're going to win a championship, but I lied," Green said. "We are going to win the championship."
"I think we were sort of going in the wrong direction, thinking we were getting it and never really getting it. But since [Butler has] been here, we've gone into every game thinking and believing that we're going to win. And that belief carries a long way in this league," Green added.
The announcement sent ripples throughout the NBA, with Green's plea a reflection of the team's renewed vigor since the arrival of Butler. The Warriors are 3-1 since the Feb. 6 trade that saw Butler arrive from the Miami Heat, and the six-time All-Star already a game-changer.
Butler has added a new dimension to the Warriors, rejuvenating a team that was plagued by inconsistency all season. His capacity to drive to the basket, create scoring chances, and exert defensive pressure has transformed Golden State's offense.
Green even called Butler a "franchise-altering acquisition" following their win over the Houston Rockets on Feb. 15.
The point forward/center praised Jimmy for everything he has done for the whole Dubs nation. From his mindset to his fierceness on the court, Green acknowledged that these are what the Warriors were lacking.
Even with Butler's star-studded resume, the 34-year-old still hasn't won a championship ring. But with four NBA championships to his name, Green understands what it takes to win it all, and his confidence in Butler's potential to assist in bringing another banner to Golden State is unshakeable.
In a separate report by Sports Illustrated, Stephen Curry backed up Draymond's 2025 champ claim with a strong remark.
"We love pressure" 😤

Can the Warriors Make a Deep Playoff Run?
The Warriors are 28-27 and No. 10 in the Western Conference. They are hardly a top contender on paper, but their recent run with Butler makes them a potential threat in the playoffs.
Golden State comes back from the All-Star break on Feb. 21 to play the Sacramento Kings in a pivotal game. With Butler now part of the equation and Green's confidence at an all-time high, the Warriors are ready to make a serious push for a deep playoff run.
Will Draymond Green's prophecy be fulfilled? No one knows, but time will be the only one that knows that. One thing is for sure: the Warriors are playing with championship swagger again.
