The Golden State Warriors are done pursuing Kevin Durant, which has led to a shift in trade strategy as the deadline draws closer. Now that Jimmy Butler was officially traded to The Dubs in a blockbuster trade, it could mean that Steve Kerr and the team want to experiment with something new for the organization.

Even though Durant doesn't have a no-trade clause, NBA insider Chris Haynes reports that Golden State isn't interested in adding any superstar who isn't all-in on the team.

Jimmy Butler Becomes Warriors' Primary Trade Target

According to The Athletic's Anthony Slater and Sam Amick, Durant was "cold to the idea" of a return to his former team.

Off the board with Durant, it would appear Butler, the Heat superstar, has entered the crosshairs for the Warriors. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Golden State is indeed exploring the idea of dealing with its Dennis Schröder expiring contract, which figures to be crucial in the move.

While Butler's availability has always been speculated over given his not-so-great relations with the Heat, things don't exactly become that straightforward given his unwillingness to extend his stay in Golden State.

Just recently, ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported that Butler has "communicated to the Warriors that he's unwilling to sign an extension." But apparently, the belief inside The Athletic is that the Warriors remain confident in landing him before the deadline—which was what actually happened.

Nikola Vucević Becomes the Fall Guy

There is a fallback if the Warriors do not land Butler. Per ESPN's Shams Charania, Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucević has emerged on Golden State's radar. Although Vucević is not the star player they had in mind, he could fix key weaknesses in the Warriors' lineup.

Warriors could do a lot with the Montenegrin center. He's a walking double-double machine who averages 19.7 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Even his outside shooting is impressive as he can stretch the floor with his 40.1 % shooting from beyond the arc.

However, what possibly hindered Warriors from getting him is his "steep asking price."

Warriors Face Urgency Ahead of Trade Deadline

The Warriors currently sit 10th in the Western Conference, with a 25-24 record, and need to make a big move before the trade deadline if they want to be assured of a decent playoff position.

With Buckets now aboard the crew, the Dubs could finally make some adjustments to improve the West standings.
