If Seth Rollins is returning to WWE RAW, there's another big name who will leave the company where his skills as a competitor and commentator were honed.
News has been creating ripples around the world of wrestling lately with WWE Hall of Famer JBL. Starting from TNA Wrestling to MLW and, of course, GCW too, the former WWE Champion has found himself in more than one promotion lately, chopping all his way with his signature move. But what does this mean for his future with WWE?
JBL Comments on Rumours Circulating He Left WWE
During a recent Q&A with Gerald Brisco on "Sportskeeda," JBL was asked if recent appearances outside of WWE mean he is done with the company. The Hardcore Champion wasted no time shutting these rumors down, calling them "100% wrong." Though he did shut these rumors down, he's not doing much else to give any further clarity, and the door remains open for continued speculation.
"I'm going to answer as politically correct ... as possible. I've never answered a question about my contract. I've seen speculation on the internet and it's all wrong. I'm not gonna answer whether I am or not because WWE has always had a confidentiality clause," the 57-year-old WWE Hall of Famer said.
Could JBL Be Headed to AEW?
Also within the same show, some fans were pondering if JBL was heading over to AEW. With recent work outside of WWE, ranging from shots with TNA Wrestling, everyone was musing if maybe he could be taking other options should the time with WWE be over.
"I didn't tell anyone I was going to the other promotions, I won't tell anyone if I'm going [to AEW] either. I have no idea. I've always been a lifelong WWE guy. I've always been loyal to the WWE, so probably not," JBL said while chuckling.
JBL's Recent Experience with TNA Wrestling
Curiously enough, JBL's connection with TNA Wrestling could still land him somewhere in the WWE orbit. For the past few months, there have been cross-over events between WWE NXT and TNA. This includes an enigmatic exchange by JBL with the TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth. Viewers are already pondering over this exchange as a possibility for future outcomes between the two companies.
Bottom Line
While JBL has been active outside WWE, all said, there is no solid evidence that he is leaving for good. For now, fans may only watch closely as the story continues unfolding. All we know so far is he admired Finlay as the "best he ever saw."
