The Golden State Warriors may have to confront tough decisions this offseason to regain championship contention.
Despite another All-NBA campaign from Stephen Curry, the team missed the 2024 NBA Playoffs and is anticipated to make significant moves this summer.
Golden State boasts many promising young players, including 2021 first-round lottery picks Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody, 2024 draft pick Brandin Podziemski, and breakout second-round selection Trayce Jackson-Davis.
However, team insider Monte Poole of NBC Sports stated that the team is unwilling to part ways with any of the four young players under 25 to acquire a veteran impact player.
Kuminga projects to have the highest upside, and Moody has proven to make a significant impact in limited minutes. Podziemski made the 2024 All-Rookie First Team, while Jackson-Davis provided much-needed size.
Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. confirmed that he has received calls about future draft picks or current players, which he sees as a positive sign of the team's quality. However, he indicated that they are not eager to entertain offers.
Warriors GM reiterates stance on Klay Thompson
Meanwhile, the Warriors are also grappling with the potential departure of franchise legend Klay Thompson, as contract extension talks have not progressed over the past year.
Dunleavy reiterated the team's stance regarding the sharpshooter and preferred to keep additional details in-house.
"We want him back. I think we've said that all along. Hopeful he will come back," the 43-year-old executive said in an offseason press conference.
