Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James' agent and Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul has debunked the notion of the NBA's all-time leading scorer wanting to play immediately with his son Bronny James and following him to whichever team drafts the 19-year-old in the 2024 NBA Draft.
LeBron has the option to hit free agency this summer and a $51.4 million player option with the Lakers.
"LeBron is off this idea of having to play with Bronny. If he does, he does. But if he doesn't, he doesn't. There's no deal made that it's guaranteed that if the Lakers draft Bronny at 55, [LeBron] will re-sign," the 42-year-old told ESPN.
"We don't need leverage. The Lakers can draft Bronny and LeBron doesn't re-sign. LeBron is also not going to Phoenix for a minimum deal. We can squash that now," Paul added.
Paul added that Bronny is done holding workouts with teams unless there are any unexpected developments.
Several other teams interested in Bronny James
Paul has stated that Western Conference finalists Dallas Mavericks, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Toronto Raptors are also interested in drafting Bronny James.
"Minnesota would love to get Bronny in, but I don't know who their owner is going to be. [Mavs GM] Nico Harrison is like an uncle to Bronny. If the Lakers don't take him at 55, Dallas would take him at 58 and give him a guaranteed deal."
The agent also shared that Raptors team president Masai Ujiri loves Bronny, and he could select the former USC Trojan with their 31st overall pick even without a workout.
