Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is three years removed from his first NBA championship and Finals MVP in 2021, and he is looking to get back to the top of the league once again.
However, the 29-year-old missed the entire 2024 NBA playoffs due to a right calf strain, and the Bucks were eliminated in the first round by the Indiana Pacers in six games.
With a lengthy offseason ahead, the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player has enlisted the services of skills coach Drew Hanlen, the longtime trainer of Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum, to help him with his game this summer.
While ESPN reporter Ramona Shelburne did not mention the 2021 NBA Finals MVP, she alluded that Hanlen spent most of the NBA Finals in Antetokounmpo's home country of Greece, training a "new client."
Hanlen flew from Athens to Boston on Monday morning to attend the Celtics' championship-clinching Game 5 of the 2024 NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks at the TD Garden on June 17.
Drew Hanlen has also worked with Joel Embiid
Aside from Antetokounmpo and Tatum, Hanlen has worked with several other Eastern Conference stars.
These include Philadelphia 76ers stars Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey and Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton.
The 34-year-old coach revealed that he worked with Embiid on hook shots and floaters during the summer of 2023.
