Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George might be donning a different jersey next season.

The Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly interested in the nine-time NBA All-Star as they look to fill up their massive cap space this summer.

This interest comes after the Clippers are said to be uninterested to offer George a maximum contract extension, similar to the one they granted Kawhi Leonard at the start of the year.

For the past three years, George and Leonard have had identical salaries, and both of them were set to have player options for the 2025-26 season worth $48.8 million.

However, Leonard signed a three-year extension worth $152.4 million last January, which voided his player option and will keep him in Los Angeles until 2026-27.

Sixers could offer Paul George a massive contract

On the other hand, the Sixers are willing to offer Paul George the maximum contract he is eligible to receive, which is a four-year deal worth $212 million, according to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The team believes that the forward is the perfect fit alongside their core stars of center Joel Embiid and point guard Tyrese Maxey.

Philadelphia has only three guaranteed players on their roster for the 2024-25 season so far and is currently projected to have $110 million in salary cap space below the luxury tax at the start of free agency.

The Clippers are not entirely unenthusiastic about George, and they are hoping that he will agree to take less money to stay with his hometown team.
