Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice could face severe consequences from the NFL following his involvement in a frightening road accident in Dallas allegedly caused by racing on public roads at the end of March.

NFL Network reporter James Palmer casually mentioned the potential punishment the 24-year-old might receive while appearing on Steve Smith's podcast, "Agent 89 Breakdown Show."

"[Rashee Rice] is going to be suspended and that [the Chiefs] are expecting half a season at least," the reporter stated.

The second-year wideout has been issued an arrest warrant, where he faces eight charges in the case, including six counts of collision involving bodily injury, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and one count of aggravated assault, all classified as felonies.

In mid-April, Rice voluntarily surrendered himself to Glenn Heights police and was briefly detained in DeSoto before being released later that day on bail set at $40,000.

Rice suspension a huge setback for the Chiefs

One of the issues that plagued the Chiefs during the 2023 season was the lack of depth in the wide receiver position.

After a solid rookie campaign, Rice emerged as one of the few bright spots for the position last season.

He set an NFL record for the most postseason receptions by a rookie, hauling in 26 passes during the Chiefs' recent Super Bowl run.
