The Denver Nuggets have achieved a gentleman's sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers in the first-round series after winning Game 5 with a score of 108-106 on Monday, April 29, at the Ball Arena in Denver.
Despite the one-sided nature that the series' 4-1 line may suggest, two games were decided by go-ahead shots by Nuggets star Jamal Murray in the final moments.
Nuggets coach Michael Malone acknowledged the formidable nature of their opponents, notably Lakers head coach Darvin Ham.
"I think Darvin Ham is a hell of a coach. That's not an easy job. I think Darvin does it with class... He's a good man, good coach, and I wish him all the best. Hopefully, he'll be around there for a long time because he deserves to be," the 52-year-old tactician told the media in the post-game press conference.

Ham has faced criticism for his tactics and lineup choices throughout the season, and following the season-ending loss, he is reportedly unlikely to return to the purple and gold franchise in 2024-25.
Michael Malone compliments Lakers star duo
In addition to praising Ham, Malone also gave his flowers to the entire Lakers team and their star duo.
"Credit to their team, they're not an easy out. LeBron James is arguably the greatest player of all-time, Anthony Davis is a Hall of Famer. They gave us all we could handle," Malone stated.
The Nuggets are set to face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Semifinals.
