Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler wasted no time trolling the Boston Celtics after his team secured a 111-101 road victory in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series on Wednesday, April 24 at the TD Garden in Boston.
The 34-year-old took to Instagram and shared a parody version of Celtics star Jaylen Brown's quote from last season's Eastern Conference Finals, cautioning the Heat, "Don't let us get one," with his face edited over Brown's.
"feeling cute, might delete later. sikeeeee I ain't deleting s***.," the six-time NBA All-Star wrote on the caption.
Butler did not play in Game 2 and watched it while rehabilitating after suffering a severe MCL sprain on his right knee during the Heat's first play-in tournament game against the Philadelphia 76ers on April 17.
The 2023 All-NBA Second Team member is expected to be out for the remainder of their first-round series, according to league insider Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.
Jimmy Butler did not forget Jaylen Brown's old quote
Butler's meme originated from Brown's quote during the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals.
After the Heat went up 3-0, Celtics players, including Brown and Marcus Smart, issued warnings like "Don't let us get one" during media interviews.
Despite the Celtics managing to tie the series at three apiece to force a Game 7, they ultimately lost the winner-take-all game at home.
