WWE has successfully retained one of its top performers for the foreseeable future.

Former WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor has confirmed his decision to remain with the company, ending speculations about a potential move to rival promotion AEW.

"I would like to take this moment to say thank you to WWE for 10 incredible years. And after much thought and consideration, I have decided that now is the right time to say 'I ain't going nowhere!," the 42-year-old said on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

Balor currently appears on Monday Night Raw and is a member of the Judgment Day stable, including World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, and JD McDonagh.

Fightful Select said Balor had inked a multi-year, lucrative contract extension with WWE. He was the inaugural holder of the Universal Championship when it was introduced in 2016.

Finn Balor received interest from AEW

Given his stature, there was widespread anticipation of significant interest in Balor from promotions beyond WWE.

Particularly, AEW has been actively seeking potential free agents this summer, with Balor's name reportedly on their radar as a talent of interest.

Balor's contract with WWE was approaching its expiration, with only a few months remaining.

He recently held the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship alongside Damian Priest before losing it on April 6, during Night 1 of WrestleMania 40.
