The New York Knicks received a mixed update on the injuries of two of their best players as they prepare for the 2024 NBA Playoffs.

On the positive side, the Knicks have expressed being "cautiously optimistic" regarding forward OG Anunoby's recovery from an elbow injury that has been bothering him since late February, per head coach Tom Thibodeau on Thursday, April 4.

Thibodeau also mentioned that the British player has received clearance for contact and is progressing well in his rehabilitation.

Anunoby had undergone minor surgery in late February to address a loose bone fragment in his right elbow.

The 26-year-old returned to play a few games in March, but unfortunately, he was sidelined again when the same elbow flared up once more.

Knicks get terrible Julius Randle update

On the contrary, multiple reports have confirmed that star forward Julius Randle will undergo season-ending right shoulder surgery.

The 29-year-old has been sidelined since dislocating his shoulder in late January, rehabilitating in hopes of returning before the playoffs.

However, league insider Chris B. Haynes of Bleacher Report and TNT revealed that a major incident was the cause of this setback.

"About five weeks ago, he went through a full contact session and re-injured the shoulder," the journalist said ahead of the Knicks' home game against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday at the Madison Square Garden.
