The partnership between Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos ended abruptly last season as the team learned to accept that they would not make the playoffs.
Coach Sean Payton decided to bench Wilson in their last two games because, as he said, he needs a spark offensively.
The body language indicated it was more than just an offensive spark. Wilson has fallen out of favor despite the statistics saying he got better in his second year with the team.
The Las Vegas Raiders made the same move on Derek Carr in 2022, wherein he was benched in their last two games for Jarrett Stidham. Carr was no longer a part of Las Vegas the next month.

Wilson put his Denver mansion up for sale. He's a goner before the NFL 2024 season starts.
He had a better statistical season in 2023. He can still slug it out with the best on the gridiron. It is probably just a matter of fit with Payton.
With that said, where should he go next?
Top 3 best teams that could use a Russell Wilson
1. Las Vegas Raiders
Jimmy Garoppolo's highly-publicized transfer to Las Vegas did not produce desirable results. He only played seven games after signing a three-year, $67.5 million contract during the summer.
Fast forward to 2024, he was suspended two games for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy.
Antonio Pierce is debuting as a head coach and could use a veteran voice on the field. Wilson can be that person.
At 35 years old, he was still able to put up 341 yards rushing and came with three touchdowns in 15 games he played for the Broncos.
Fourth-round pick Aidan O'Connell became their starting quarterback after Garoppolo's benching.
He performed well, but the stability is just not there yet. Wilson can help coach Pierce's squad.
His veteran leadership on the field can unlock the potential of wide receivers Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers and running backs Josh Jacobs and Zamir White.
2. Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons are in dire need of a quality quarterback. However, salary is an issue if they think they should go after Russell Wilson.
The nine-time Pro Bowl winner can come to Atlanta if his massive deal is restructured, and it is believed that he could also sign with another franchise for a league minimum.
Just like Pierce, Raheem Morris is entering a new era as a head coach after spending years as a defensive coach.
Wilson will be an upgrade over Taylor Heinicke.
Falcons were instantly on Wilson's tail shortly after it was revealed that Payton would no longer play him in December last year.
"Talked to teams who believe like Atlanta, Pittsburgh, New England, a lot of teams could use a good veteran who was still playing relatively well this year," ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler said.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers
Steelers' offensive coordinator Arthur Smith is the best asset the franchise can use to bring the Super Bowl champ to Pittsburgh.
Smith did wonders for the Tennesse Titans in 2019 when they were able to unlock Derrick Henry's potential with the help of QBs Ryan Tannehill and Marcus Mariota.
The Titans continue to use heave play-action passes, an area where Wilson excelled last year.
He was seventh in the league in 2023 with a 118.1 passer rating on that department.
Wilson will be brought back to his Seattle Seahawks days if he ever gets to pair up with Henry and young guns in rushing attacks like Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren.
