The NBA world was shocked yesterday by the latest Aaron Gordon injury update.

It was the talk of the town not because they feel bad for the Denver Nuggets forward, especially with the way he is playing this season. That's one reason.

Gordon was a trending topic on NBA social media after news reports revealed that he's missed team practices after getting bitten by a dog on Christmas Day on his face and right hand.

The 2014 fourth-overall pick had to have 21 stitches on both parts of the body and is now in good condition. However, he is out indefinitely as there is no timetable yet for his recovery.

This means the Nuggets will miss his 13.3 points per game production that comes with almost seven rebounds and four assists.

While this Aaron Gordon injury seems bizarre, the NBA, in its long history, has seen other weirder injuries to its players.

Here are the three other strange and most bizarre injuries to selected players.

1. Latrell Sprewell vs vomit

Sprewell is no stranger to bizarre on-court moments but one thing that is separated from the other was his injury in 2001 stemming from a vomit.

The story goes like this: Sprewell, playing for the New York Knicks at that time, hosted a yacht party and one female got overserved with alcohol and puked on the floor of the luxury yacht he himself bought.

The volatile All-Star confronted the girl's boyfriend and tried to punch the guy. He missed and ended up hitting the wall. He hurt his hand and had to undergo surgery to repair a displaced fracture of the bone beneath his right pinkie.

He missed at least six weeks for it.

2. Charles Barkley, Eric Clapton, and hand lotion

NBA 75 member Charles Barkley made headlines before the start of the 1994-1995 season because of an injury started by a hand lotion.

It was the off-season and just like any player, Barkley was enjoying his summer. He is an Eric Clapton and made sure to fully enjoy one of the singer's concerts that he went to. He had with him a hand lotion but as the event went along, he started rubbing his eyes, setting off a chemical reaction that hurt his eyesight.

He was ordered by an ophthalmologist to wear eye patches for 12 hours, making him miss the opener against the Sacramento Kings.

Good thing for him, that was the only game he missed because of the hand lotion.

3. Ice forced BJ Tyler to retire at 24

Aaron Gordon will recover from the dog bites. That was not the case for BJ Tyler in 1995 while he was part of the expansion team Toronto Raptrs. A dog is not the suspect here but simply, ice. And neglect.

Tyler, selected 20th pick overall in a 1994 draft class, accidentally fall asleep while a pack of ice was attached to his ankle.

This neglect damaged his nerve which in turn affected his speed. At that time, he just signed a $6 million, five-year deal with the Raptors.

Because of the accident, he never recovered his speed again and was forced to retire at the age of 24.

He now works as a CEO and president of Menage Entertainment.
