Formula One team Alpine has acquired prominent new investors through Otro Capital, the team announced on Tuesday, October 17.

The investment firm acquired a 24 percent stake in the team in June of this year worth nearly $220 million.

Now, they are being joined by a group of investors comprising several sports stars, including Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce, four-time golf major champion Rory McIlroy, Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, Spanish footballer Juan Mata, and former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua.

Additionally, Roger Ehrenberg, the founder of Eberg Capital and an investor in the MLB team Miami Marlins and MLS club Real Salt Lake, is part of the group.

"I've always had a passion for all sports. The opportunity to lead an investor group with Travis in Alpine F1 alongside Otro Capital was one I couldn't pass up," Mahomes said in a statement.

Alpine is currently sixth in the Constructors' standings, boasting an all-French lineup of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly. Both have stepped on the podium twice as P3 this season.

Not the first stars to invest in Alpine

The latest group of sports figures isn't the first time prominent personalities have invested in the French racing team.

During the initial investment in the team last June, Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds, Michael B. Jordan, and Rob McElhenney were also part of the investment group.
