Any potential WWE return by CM Punk, also known as Phil Brooks, may happen, but not in the near future.

The 44-year-old was rumored to be in talks with the WWE. However, this was immediately debunked.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio shed more light on what happened, stressing that all is not yet well between the two sides. He also mentioned the people who were against the idea.

"It's Vince [McMahon] 's decision. Vince, Nick Khan, Paul Levesque [Triple H] and, obviously, they decided that the negatives outweighed the positives," Meltzer stated.

However, he added that while the wounds of Punks' actions against the WWE remain fresh, a reconciliation may happen somewhere down the road, per the Bleacher Report.

"I mean, it can always change and it was brought up to me that there is no such thing as no forever when it comes to WWE but it's no for now," Meltzer added.

With the WWE out of the picture, the only chance that Punk may have is to consider going to Japan or other low-profile promotions. However, his reputation could be a cause for concern, meaning Punk may have to keep a low profile for now, Cageside Seats reported.

Phil Brooks' deal with All-Elite Wrestling was terminated in September after the legal team of Tony Khan recommended it, Sports Illustrated reported.

CM Punk's future in the crossroads

Things do not look promising for CM Punk unless he cleans his act. It will also be interesting if any promotion will take him in after his recent issues with the AEW.

"What value does a person like that bring to your company? I mean, I'm just being honest here. You tell me. People [say], 'Well, you got a lot of people that's going to love it. He's got a lot of fans that are going to love it.' Yeah, he's got a lot of fans, but those fans actually mean nothing when it comes to the big picture," wrestling legend Booker T said on the "Hall of Fame" podcast.
