The Las Vegas Raiders are young and needed someone like Davante Adams to instill experience and veteran leadership.
Adams joined the Sin City squad in 2022 from a much-established team, Green Bay Packers, with whom he won many individual wares and reached post-season on an almost regular basis.
However, the partnership has yet to yield favorable results for the Raiders and Adams.
The 30-year-old wide receiver is taking his time, though. He believes the team is putting in the work, and the results will come eventually.
"I didn't really have any expectations," Adams said in an interview with ESPN.
"But it's not what I wanted, for sure. Obviously, I wanted to come here and have a big impact, continue to play at a high level, and win games. And a lot of those things have happened - just not the winning part. But I've just got to continue to do more and keep demanding greatness and consistency for my teammates."
"It's a gamble sometimes. You never really know."
Adams dreams of surpassing the Packers' stint
Adams spent eight years with the Green Bay Packers, winning First Team All-Pro three times and Pro Bowl six straight times from 2017 to 2022.
The individual accolades are a testament to his greatness, but his eyes are set on a more significant reward - the Super Bowl. Adams hopes to achieve that with his new team.
"I'm trying to create something special here," he said.
"I can only do so much on my individual end. ... you don't fluke into the Super Bowl; you do it a certain way to win the Super Bowl."
