Red Bull driver Max Verstappen opened up about his journey to Formula 1, which his father, Jos Verstappen, has been a part of from the start.
In a recent appearance on Red Bull's Mind Set Win podcast, the soon-to-be three-time world champion revealed that he has argued with his father over his more laid-back approach to the sport.
"I just go with the flow. This really works for me. Back in the day, I had quite a few arguments with my dad about it. He felt that I was too relaxed about it. He wanted me to be more on top of things," the Dutchman said.
Jos competed in Formula 1 from 1994 to 2003, participating in 107 races for various teams, including Benetton, Simtek, Footwork, Arrows, Tyrrell, Stewart, and Minardi. He was able to finish on the podium twice, scoring a total of 17 points in his career.
Max unquestionably exceeded his father's accomplishments from his debut race with Red Bull, clinching victory in the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix.

Formula 1 is not everything
Verstappen, who recently celebrated his 26th birthday on Saturday, September 30, mentioned that Formula One holds a significant place in his life, but it is not everything.
The reigning champ noted that he doesn't require constant thinking about the sport to perform at his best and knows when to switch back on and off.
