Zach Wilson of the New York Jets had an almost perfect game in their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, October 1. However, one fumble negated his efforts, but Aaron Rodgers remains proud of the 24-year-old's efforts and performance.

Aaron Rodgers, who was present in the Chiefs-Jets game, hailed Zach Wilson for his performance when he appeared on The Pat McAfee Show.

"Zach's a young kid. He's learning, he's growing, he's on his path and his journey, and I'm very proud of the leadership that he showed. I'm proud of the way he played," Rodgers said.

The 39-year-old added that he never gave Wilson any kind of pep talk and pointed out the second overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft's efforts in the game.

"I don't need to pull him aside and tell him anything special. There wasn't some pep talk that I gave him that made him play better. I felt like the plan was a good plan, he got into a rhythm there in the second quarter and made a bunch of really great throws," Rodgers added.

Wilson completed 28 of his 39 passes for 245 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. His 105.2 passer rating was the highest of his 26-game career, The New York Post reported.

Jets eye for a breakthrough win

The good news is that Wilson shows signs of improvement, which speaks well for the Jets. However, that can only be affirmed if New York can get back to its winning ways.

The Jets will visit the Denver Broncos on Sunday, October 8, hoping to snag their second win of the season. Wilson and company will have their hands full, considering they are betting underdogs against the Broncos per BetMG via USA Today.
