Many of the world's wealthiest and most powerful business people from media, finance, and technology attend the annual week-long conference which is in its 33rd year.

Chicago White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf had some words for the current baseball team season, which has been turbulent following a dismal performance all year round.

The 87-year-old called the current campaign "absolutely the worst season" he has ever been through in his 43 years in baseball.

"It was a nightmare. It's still a nightmare. It's embarrassing. It's disgusting. All the bad words you can think of is the way I feel about the 2023 season. It absolutely was just awful," Reinsdorf said.

The White Sox entered Friday with a 53-81 win-loss record, second to the last in the American League Central.

The team relieved two longtime front office figures, executive vice president Ken Williams and senior vice president and general manager Rick Hahn, from their duties last month after the disastrous season.

Despite the difficult season, Reinsdorf is insistent on not selling the team despite a lot of clamors.

The White Sox owner, who also owns the NBA's Chicago Bulls, said that he likes what he's doing even if it is going as bad as it is.

Shooting occurs in Guaranteed Rate Field

Last week, a shooting occurred during a White Sox home game against the Oakland Athletics on August 26.

Two women aged 42 and 26 were injured, but the wounds were non-life threatening, and they are expected to fully recover.

Reinsdord said the police are still investigating the incident, but he doesn't think the shots came from inside the ballpark.
