Former WBC interim lightweight boxing champion Ryan Garcia is reportedly returning to the ring in November at 140 pounds, according to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya.
However, the only problem right now is that it has yet to be decided by "The Flash" as to who he would be open to facing next. Garcia has allegedly been turning down the names offered to him.
"Ryan Garcia, we have a date for him in November. We've been presenting different opponents to him; they've been turning them down," De La Hoya said to Fighthype.
Considering that "KingRy" is trying to pick up the pieces following his KO loss to Gervonta Davis last April, Garcia could be cautious as he tries to get back on track.
The loss to Davis was the first in Garcia's professional boxing career, BBC reported.
Among the targets that Garcia had on his radar was WBA light welterweight champion Rolando Romero. But the 28-year-old fighter is reportedly on medical leave, and De La Hoya forecasts that the belt will become vacant with the WBA ordering Romero to defend it against Ohara Davies.
Assuming the belt is vacated, Garcia could face Davies for the WBA light welterweight belt. However, Davies is known to be an excellent body puncher and may be too much for "KingRy" to handle.
Aside from Romero or Davies's camp, Garcia must find a credible foe for his redemption fight. Davis exposed a huge chink in the armor of Garcia, exposing how the American boxer cannot handle shots to the body.
This development also comes at an exciting time with the brewing feud between Garcia and Golden Boy Promotions in the air.
Garcia filed a motion to dismiss the promoter's complaint against him in the US District Court in Nevada, ESPN reported.
Golden Boy Promotions filed a lawsuit against Garcia and his adviser, Guadalupe Valencia, last June 16 concerning their contract.
It was in response to demand letters sent to the promotion by Garcia's legal representation, claiming that there were decisions that invalidated their pact with the 24-year-old Garcia.
