Jake Paul is back in the winning column after defeating Nate Diaz via unanimous decision, 97-92, 98-91, 98-91.
The ring matches between celebrities and athletes have been a gold mine for the participants as they not only get to live their dream of becoming fighters (for non-combat sports participants), but they also get the chance to break the bank.
How much did those two earn?
Previous reports claimed Paul got a guaranteed $2 million while Diaz got $500,000.
However, that's not the end of it. Diaz's representative Zach Rosenfield said his client could earn eight digits.
This is because the two are not just rivals in the ring. They are also business partners.
Bloody Elbow reported that Paul's Most Valuable Promotions and Diaz's Real Fighting, Inc. agreed to have a 50/50 split on any profit from the fight.
The Youtube celebrity gets higher billing, but the preparations, the build-up, and the profits are equally divided.
Rosenfield said this is the part Diaz enjoyed the most about his fight with Paul.
"He's enjoyed the process of having partners rather than working for someone. Enjoying not leasing out his services," he said.
"It's nice to be your own boss."
A rematch that could break the bank
Paul dominated the right and is open to another meeting with Diaz-this time, in the MMA fighters' realm.
What's more enticing about the rematch is that it could break the bank for both.
"I want to run it back in MMA," Paul said. "$10 million in PFL, that's the offer. Let's run it back in MMA. Your territory, let's do it."
Paul in the octagon? Do you think he can still win?
