Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry had some harsh words for the Duke Blue Devils when they tried to recruit him during his college playing days.

"Dad, if they didn't want me then, I don't want them now. F*** 'em. I'm staying at Davidson," Curry told his father, Dell, back then.

Before becoming the greatest shooter of all time and one of the best basketball players ever, Curry was a skinny, under-the-radar guard three-star recruit looking for a scholarship to play college hoops.

The Duke Blue Devils was the preferred destination of the Warriors great, according to Dell during an appearance on former NBA player turned social media personality Rex Chapman's podcast.

Duke rejected Curry's request to be a walk-on player

Curry asked Duke to be a walk-on player, a member of the roster who is not recruited and does not possess an academic scholarship, usually reserved for the weakest players. However, Duke could not give in to Curry's request, stating they were already full.

The two-time MVP then attended Davidson College in North Carolina, playing for its varsity team Davidson Wildcats.

Curry would have a sensational freshman season, averaging 21.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.6 threes, 2.8 assists, and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 46.3% from the field and 40.8% from downtown.

Soon, every school in the country hoped he would transfer after the season, but he chose to remain with Davidson for two more campaigns until he declared for the NBA Draft in 2009, and the rest is history.
