CD Projekt Red may be developing the sequel to "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt if reports are to be believed. The possibility was discussed during a financial results conference wherein the developer mentioned plans of making a new game alongside Cyberpunk 2077. The new game would likely be "The Witcher 4" as the series has resulted in huge sales for the developer.
CD Projekt Group recently hosted their 2016 financial results conference where the company talked about their future plans. The first agenda talked about was the development of "Cyberpunk 2077" which according to them is "quite advanced." It is currently the developers biggest project with most of the team working on it. It is reported that there are more than 300 developers working on the game. But the developer has also mentioned that it plans to produce a new game which could likely be "The Witcher 4."
The developer currently has 2 projects ongoing including "Cyberpunk 2077" and "Gwent: The Witcher Card Game." With the development of the 2 games, it seems that the whole company is busy with their current projects. And with the announcement of developing a new game in parallel to the current projects, the company would have to hire new staff to help with the unannounced project. The company is looking for Concept Artists who may be working for "The Witcher 4."
But when it comes to the development of "The Witcher 4" there will be problems with regards to the story. The Witcher series was designed to be a trilogy which ended with the last game. The game concluded the story of Geralt as he ends his career as a Witcher and rides off into the sunset. But the game also ended with a passing of the torch as Siri emerges as a more powerful warrior than Gerald. So the opportunity for a sequel is there, but it may not involve Geralt.
With the last games selling 25 million copies, it's hard to pass up the potential earnings for "The Witcher 4." So there's a good chance that the new project CD Projekt Red is developing may, in fact, be a Witcher. But it will most likely be about Siri.
