The recent "Pokemon Go" update has finally added the much-awaited shiny Pokemons to its roster. The Water Festival Event was just recently launched and along with it came shiny Magikarps. Here's everything you need to know about these shiny Pokemons.

Shiny Pokemon aren't that different from your regular Pokemons in "Pokemon Go." The only difference is their color scheme which only a shiny Pokemon possess. But what makes these shiny Pokemons special is how rare and unique they are.

Pokmeon players only have 1 in 8,192 chance of encountering a shiny Pokemon. But after that, players will then have to capture the Pokemon which a whole new level of challenge. For "Pokemon Go" players, this marks the first chance they can capture a shiny pokemon.

For now, the only available shiny Pokemons in "Pokemon Go" are the golden Magikarp and the red Gyrados. Only a shiny Magikarp can be captured in the wild which can then evolve to red Gyarados. For now, it is unclear if a Red Gyarados can be captured.

Unfortunately, like all past Pokemon games, there isn't a sure-fire way to capture a shiny Pokemon. And it's the same thing for Pokemon Go. Players would just have to go out and get lucky. But gamers should also be warned that a Ditto may disguise itself as a golden Magikarp to fool them.

But besides the two Pokemons, it looks like others will also have their own shiny versions for "Pokemon Go." According to Eurogamer, a data mining done on the game's APK shows signs that new shiny Pokemon are coming.

The "Pokemon Go" data mine shows that there will be signs to indicate that a player has captured a shiny Pokemon. The symbols are set to appear in the Pokemon's Pokedex entry which also includes other descriptions. One of those symbols will signify if a player has captured a shiny Pokemon of that variant.
