"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" concluded the epic story of Geralt of Rivia that spanned 3 games and more than a decade of development. The last of the series was critically acclaimed for its depth and story and was considered as one of the best RPGs off all time. But as CD Projekt RED earlier said, the last entry will be the end of Geralt's story which some assumed will also be the last of the series. Then again, if sales are high enough, developers will find a way to develop a new game to keep the momentum going that even the "The Witcher 4" is not exempted.

In an interview with the Polish TV station TVN24 BiS, CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kicinski was asked about the possibility of developing "The Witcher 4." According to the CEO, it's still early to think about the next entry in the series as the company is currently busy with the development of Cyberpunk2077. But he adds that the company has not forgotten the brand saying that they have been at work with for 12 years as reported by Gaming Bolt. He mentions that it would be unfair for fans of the series to not make any additional games in "The Witcher" franchise.

Then again, looking back at the interview, the comments made by the CEO was made before the launch of "The Witcher 3." The CEO has also confirmed that the latest entry will be the last of the series. According to Game-Debate the additional content he was talking about during the interview was about the upcoming DLC's that was scheduled to release the game. So the earlier report about the existence of "The Witcher 4" is not officially confirmed.

But ultimately, CD Projekt RED runs a business and business runs on sales. "The Witcher 4" will no doubt give the developer the most amount of money which will be driven by the huge fanbase of "The Witcher" series. It would be foolish for the developer to leave that much cash on the table by not developing a new entry in the series. Moreover, according to CD Projekt Red's plans for 2017 to 2021, one of those plans listed is the release of another AAA RPG title after the launch of "Cyberpunk 2077". So maybe the seeds have been planted for another "The Witcher" game.
