Sony Playstation 4's 4.50 update brought in a lot of features including external HDD support, custom wallpapers among other things. But what it didn't intend to add was problems with the Wi-fi connection. A number of users have expressed their frustrations with regards to the new update as it has caused them connection problems.

Looking at the official PlayStation Forums, users have posted several cases of how the PlayStation 4 4.50 update affected the online connection of their console. According to Engadget, the two-week thread has now gathered more than 250 posts.

All of the posts had a similar problem with the PlayStation 4.50 update indicating the NW-31297-2 PS4 Error Code. The error code simply states that the console is unable to connect to the wireless network either because the password was incorrect or the wireless network is busy. PlayStation support says that users should configure their network settings in order to fix their issues. But in some cases, restarting the modem may solve the problem.

But according to the forum, despite the instructions provided by Sony, several users were still having problems with their connection. Some have even bought WiFi extenders in an effort to solve the issue. But so far the only sure way to solve the WiFi problems of the PlayStation 4 4.50 update is to use an ethernet cable.

Meanwhile, a different thread from the PlayStation forum has suggested a couple of solutions for the WiFi problem of the PlayStation 4 4.5 update. The first solution is the wired the solution which may not be applicable for several users. Another suggestion indicates that users remove the WiFi password but that would be unsafe.

But another strange fix stated that users remove the 802.11n protocol and switch to 802.11b/g. At least one user has claimed that the change in settings fixed his connection problems. Then again, other than the Ethernet cable solution, the best way to fix the Playstation 4 4.50 update WiFi problem, is to wait for an official update from Sony to patch the issue.
