It's been around 4 years since Rockstar Games released "Grand Theft Auto 5" but it's still topping the sales charts as updates to the online multiplayer keep the game fresh. But at the same time, it doesn't mean that fans aren't waiting for news regarding the next entry in the series. But with the latest rumors suggesting that "Grand Theft Auto 6" will follow its predecessor's model, gamers would are beginning to get amped up for the sequel.

However, despite the rumors, Rockstar Games is scheduled to launch "Red Dead Redemption 2" later this year. So don't expect "Grand Theft Auto 6" to come out at any time soon. But despite that, the much-awaited sequel will definitely come as "Grand Theft Auto" is one of the biggest video game series as proven by the sales of "GTA 5".

"GTA 5" is the fastest selling title in video game history earning $1 billion in the first day of its release. To put that into perspective, the highest selling movie of all time grossed over $2 billion in the entire length of its release. "GTA 5" earned almost half of that in one day and has now sold 60 million copies worldwide. It's why Rockstar Games would want to try and replicate GTA 5's success with "Grand Theft Auto 6."

Cinema Blend reports that Leslie Benzie, president of Rockstar North has some ideas for the sequel. He says that they have 45 years worth of ideas to work through which will be applied to "Grand Theft Auto 6" On the other hand, other rumors are suggesting a bigger map that dwarfs the current map of "GTA 5."

"GTA 5" features the city of Los Santos which is Rockstar's take on Los Angeles as well as a large portion of suburban towns, valleys, forests, and more. Trusted Reviews reports that "Grand Theft Auto 6" will have a map that comprises the entire USA with several cities and everything in between. "GTA 5" would be a great model for that concept as it can be considered as a smaller scale of the entire project. The sequel's map could follow GTA 5's template of one city and its surrounding elements but do it several times over depending on the number of cities the developer intends to have in the sequel.

Heists were also a huge feature of "GTA5." With the possibility of featuring several cities in one map, "Grand Theft Auto 6" could feature cross-country heists. Players could stage heists across several cities at the same time if the sequel improves upon "GTA 5's" feature.

While the feat may sound impossible at first, The Crew managed to recreate a map that encompasses the entire USA which required an hour and a half to be driven from one end to the other. And if anyone can do it, Rockstar definitely can with "Grand Theft Auto 6."
