As the release of "Destiny 2" looms on the horizon, players of the first entry have wondered how their hundreds of hours of progress will transfer to the sequel. Bungie has come forward to explain how the transfer between the games will happen. Unfortunately, for die-hard fans, the news would be very disappointing.

Polygon reports that Bungie has confirmed that character appearance and customization will transfer over "Destiny 2" for players who have reached a certain point in the first game. But weapons, levels, and power will not carry over. This makes the progress made from the first game worthless when the "Destiny 2" arrives.

For some fans who felt they were lied to when Bungie, announced that character progress will transfer to "Destiny 2" around 2 years, Bungie responded with a lame excuse that would only anger fans. According to community manager David Dague, Bungie was talking about the relationship and emotions between the player and his character that will be transferred to the sequel. He explains that Bungie is committed to delivering upon the desire to have a relationship with the character as reported by IGN.

For Dague, he feels that "Destiny 2" is an evolving game that will continue to inspire and challenge players. For him, he would rather see players go on an evolving journey than see a player upgrade his Gjallarhorn for the next ten years.

While Dague's reasoning may be true to some extent, it doesn't justify the complete disregard of the player's progress through countless hours of gaming. What's more, the removal of old weapons for "Destiny 2" will only lessen the "emotional" connection between the player and the character. This is because the weapons are a more vital part of the character than its appearance.

"Destiny 2" is scheduled for release sometime this 2017. Stay tuned for more updates.
