Fifteen games left in the season and the New York Knicks are not only a mess, the players are also still confused about what it is exactly they’re trying to do. The exhausting season has taken its toll on Knicks’ star Kristaps Porzingis who expressed frustration at the organization’s dysfunction, which he describes as “top to bottom.”

“We’ve been switching things up because at any point of this season, we never played like we wanted to,” Kristaps Porzingis said after a loss to the Brooklyn Nets, adding that the confusion is “from top to bottom,” which has made it difficult to concentrate on just basketball. As noted by Ball Don’t Lie, after starting the season playing within the system of first-year New York Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek, Phil Jackson has insisted that the team run the triangle offense following the All-Star break. The team was also advised that they would be using the rest of the season to evaluate who fits Jackson’s pet offense.

No one has been pleased with the team’s lack of direction. Derrick Rose has been diplomatic for the most part, but has made it clear he prefers to run a different offense other than the triangle. And while Kristaps Porzingis has said he likes the offense and that they should have been running it all along, the constant switching of schemes has apparently taken its toll, telling NorthJersey.com that “the level of frustration is very high.”

A lot of the blame has been deservedly directed at New York Knicks president Phil Jackson, who doesn’t seem to have a clue how he wants to run the team, apart from insisting that they run the triangle. He has traded public barbs with Carmelo Anthony throughout the season, and has consistently imposed his triangle over whatever Jeff Hornacek wants to run. As noted by Newsday, Anthony quipped how the team is in the middle of March and still talking about what system to run. He also posted this semi-cryptic tweet.
