Adrian Peterson, one of the biggest names in this year’s free agent class, has pointed to two possible destinations for his running game. Could the Seattle Seahawks be where the veteran takes his talents next?

As noted by the Seattle Times, initial reports linking Adrian Peterson to the Seattle Seahawks came from Stacey Dales of the NFL Network—a report that also said the Oakland Raiders would be a “desirable” landing spot for the 31-year-old running back. However, while Peterson’s father, Nelson, confirmed that his son considers both the Seahawks and the Raiders as his top two free agent destinations, it was not made clear if either of the two teams have reached out to Adrian Peterson.

The Minnesota Vikings made Adrian Peterson a free agent by declining to pick up an option that would have paid the running back $18 million next season. The Seattle Times article cites a Yahoo article that says the Oakland Raiders could offer Adrian Peterson $4-6 million a year, while the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots could both offer the running back $2-3 million with more incentives added to the back end of the deal.

The lukewarm market for Adrian Peterson has a lot to do with the fact that he is coming off a season where he missed all but three games due to a torn meniscus ligament, rushing for a total of just 72 yards on 37 carries for the Minnesota Vikings. He will also turn 32 on Mar. 21.

An important point in all these talks is how much of a pay cut Adrian Peterson is willing to take. As pointed out by NBC Sports, while the veteran has publicly stated that he would be willing a pay cut, an important question is, from what? As noted by the Seattle Times, the upcoming NFL Draft is projected to be deep at the tailback position – something that could make teams hesitant to sign an injury riddled 32-year-old.
