News about Jay Cutler's status with the Chicago Bears has been the hot topic of online news as of late. With the dismal performance of the Bears last season, rumors are spreading that they are ready to move on without Cutler and ready to change the personnel in the QB spot.
The Chicago Bears had a lackluster performance last season as they finished at the 15th spot of the NFC division having won only three out of sixteen games they played. Many are saying that part of their poor showing is the failure of Jay Cutler to stabilize the offense. They are ranked 28th in terms of offense as they managed to only score at an average of 17.4 points per game.
With that in mind, recent reports are saying that the Chicago Bears are set to release Jay Cutler if he isn't traded. And now, there are teams that could be a potential landing spot for the 33-year old quarterback from Vanderbilt University.
According to Forbes, one of the teams that should gamble for Jay Cutler is the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are indeed in need of a quarterback stand-in as the status of 49ers starting QB Colin Kaepernick is still unclear up to this time. And changing their quarterback could make wonders on them.
The San Francisco 49ers also made some big changes in the offseason, hiring John Lynch as their new general manager and Kyle Shanahan as their new head coach. Now, having Jay Cutler could be a viable option for the 49ers to try and recover from a dismal performance last season. Aside from that, Cutler already played for Kyle's father, Mike, who shaped him to become a dependable quarterback.
On a separate report by ESPN, the New York Jets is also one potential destination for Jay Cutler. Last month, the Jets canceled the last year of Ryan Fitzpatrick's contract leaving a big hole in the quarterback spot for them. Though they still have Bryce Petty and Geno Smith as backups, the two still lacks the experience that can rely on to carry the team.
Bringing in a veteran signal caller like Jay Cutler could somehow give the New York Jets some hope to have a decent outing in the coming season. Aside from that, Cutler will have a reunion of sort with Jets new quarterback coach Jeremy Bates and running back Matt Forte so the transfer to the Jets won't hard for him.
Will the Chicago Bears finally release Jay Cutler to find his new home?
