Two-time NBA champion Chris Bosh has kept mum on his health for the better part of the past year after failing a preseason physical that has since kept him out of action. On Tuesday, the former Miami Heat All-Star forward, during an appearance at TNT’s NBA “Player’s Only,” said that his health is “great.”

“My health is great, I’m feeling good, still working out and just really still staying ready,” Chris Bosh said during the broadcast. As noted by CBS Sports, it was his first public comments on his health condition after being at odds with the Miami Heat’s handling of his condition. Chris Bosh added that he’s not in any danger of working out and that he’s ready to play when he gets cleared.

As noted by the Sun Sentinel, Feb. 9 marked one year since Chris Bosh’s last played a game for the Miami Heat, which eventually saw him end his second straight season due to blood clots. That date also marked the Heat’s eligibility to apply for salary cap relief for the last two and half season’s owed to Bosh’s contract. Chris Bosh is will make $23.7 million this season, $25.3 next season and $26.9 in the 2018-19 season.

According to the report, the Miami Heat have reached out to Chris Bosh to try and settle the matter of the team’s desire to waive the player amicably. As pointed out by CBS Sports, the fact that the Heat have not received a response is unsurprising since Bosh feels that the team is not acting in his best interest. The Sun Sentinel also point out an important fact that in the current collective bargaining agreement, if Bosh – a player that has been diagnosed with a career-ending or life-threatening ailment – returns and plays 25 games in any season, his salary would be reinstated to the Heat’s salary cap.

Last September, Chris Bosh expressed frustration with how he found out that the Miami Heat would no longer be working with him towards a return. He said that he didn’t get a call or a text, instead finding out about the development from the media.
