Golden State Warriors fans are holding their collective breath as Kevin Durant suffered what is currently being called a hyperextended left knee just two minutes into their game against the Washington Wizards. The All-Star forward did not return to the game and is scheduled to have an MRI.

As reported by The Mercury News, Golden State Warriors’ Zaza Pachulia was battling Marcin Gortat for rebound position about two minutes into the game, when the former was waylaid and fell back into Kevin Durant’s left leg. Durant immediately hopped on one leg while clutching his left, and wound up missing the rest of the game.

As noted by the report, Kevin Durant initially tried to shake off the pain, running up the court gingerly on the injured leg for one offensive possession, before the Golden State Warriors called a timeout to attend to their hurting star. Shortly after, Durant was escorted by trainers to the Warriors locker room in apparent frustration.

On Saturday, Kevin Durant missed his first game as a member of the Golden State Warriors with a left hand contusion. He returned against the Philadelphia 76ers Monday, leading the team in scoring with 27 points to go along with eight rebounds and four assists. The Warriors are scheduled to play the Chicago Bulls on Thursday. As noted by CBS Sports, Kevin Durant is unlikely to play in that game.

Through 58 games with the Golden State Warriors, Kevin Durant has seamlessly blended in with the team’s talented core of All-Stars. He is averaging 25.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, while shooting a career-best 53.8 percent from the field. Prior to their game against the Washington Wizards, the Warriors stood atop the Western Conference at 50-9, four and a half games ahead of the San Antonio Spurs.
