'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' News And Update: Reshoots Happening After Carrie Fisher's Death

Some scenes from "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" have to reshoot because of Carrie Fisher's death. Now, the franchise is looking for extras and filming will take place in Eidenberg, Scotland and in Ireland.

Most people knows that "Star Wars" actress Carrie Fisher passed away last December. Fans of "Star Wars" are worried about the upcoming movie "Star Wars: The Last Jedi". According to reports, Fisher had completed her scenes for the movie but there is one problem. The scenes are closely tied to Star Wars 9 and it needs some modifications.

According to Express, it is normal for the "Star Wars" films to go through some reshoots. But, "Star Wars" expert Mike Zeroh reckons this time it will be major. Fisher has completed her scenes for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" but she was due to play a major role in Episode IX.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and "Star Wars: Episode IX" direct Colin Trevorrow set a meeting to discuss their options and story modifications. Zeroh said in his latest video that there are rumours that some of Fisher's major scenes from "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will be cut from the film.

However, he is not convinced that this will happen but he thinks that reshoots will be used to emphasise Fisher's performance and pay tribute to her. This is not new for the industry as makers paid tribute to Paul Walker in "Furious 7" and now same will happen with Carrie Fisher in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi."

As written in Movie Web, it was revealed after Fisher's death that General Leia has two key scenes in the next two Star Wars movies. Though, it is not known where these scenes were supposed to fall or what part was already shot. One thing is sure that fans will get to see her in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" and "Star Wars: Episode IX."

Out of the two scenes, the first major moment has force sensitive twins Luke and Leia reuniting and the second scene has Leia confronting her son Ben. Lucasfilm and Disney released an official statement that they would not be using a CG rendered likeness of the actress to finish Leia scenes in upcoming two movies.

Fans will get to see Carrie Fisher in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi". The movie will hit theatres on December 15, 2017.
