The Houston Rockets are playing so well in the ongoing regular season. But it seems that they are looking to reinforce their roster more heading to the playoffs. Latest news is spreading that they considering of adding Cleveland Cavaliers swingman Iman Shumpert to their lineup.

Iman Shumpert has been a familiar figure in the rumor mills the past few months. His inconsistency and subpar contribution to the team is said to be the reason why he is being put on the trading block. But the Cavs are hesitant to shift right now knowing that J.R. Smith will be out indefinitely due to an injury.

On the other hand, the Rockets are in a great position right now to make it to the postseason. Before the All-Star break, they sit at the third spot of the Western Conference standings holding a 40-18 win-loss record. And trading for Iman Shumpert could solidify their chances of making it to the playoffs and strengthen also their roster as well.

According to ESPN, the Houston Rockets wants swingman Iman Shumpert and are now engaging in talks with the Cavaliers inquiring his availability before the trade deadline expires. But the Cavs is asking for guard Patrick Beverly in return which the Rockets are unwilling to give up.

The Rockets are coming off a trade deal with the Los Angeles Lakers just recently that netted them shooting guard Lou William while sending forward Corey Brewer and a first-round pick to the Lakers. And now, they are willing to add guard K.J. McDaniels in trade offer with the Cavs if ever the talks push thru.

NESN further reports that it will be a plausible deal for both teams if ever the trade progress. Iman Shumpert, who is playing in his sixth season in the league, is averaging 7.8 points and 2.9 rebounds per game this season will further boost the backcourt of the Rockets. He can play both the point and shooting guard spot aside from having a decent 40.3 shooting percentage in the three-point area.

Meanwhile, Beverly could give the Cavs an excellent on-ball defender and a good playmaker which LeBron James have asked for. The Cavs could use him to defend Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry if ever the two teams will meet again in the NBA Finals. Will the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers work out a deal involving Iman Shumpert and Patrick Beverly?
