Many fans were very disappointed when Roman Reigns was the No. 30 entrant in the 2017 Royal Rumble Match. The latest WWE rumors have revealed the real reason why Reigns entered at No. 30 and it's very valid.
Dave Meltzer fueled the WWE rumors as he reported on the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter the reason why Reigns was designated as the last entrant in the Royal Rumble Match, per Wrestling Inc. He pointed out that the WWE wanted Randy Orton, who won the Royal Rumble, to have a big reaction.
It is despite Orton being a heel as he is part of The Wyatt Family at the moment. "The Viper" will challenge the WWE champion at the main event of WrestleMania 33. The decision to have Reigns be the last one eliminated by Orton worked really well.
"The Big Dog" received a lot of boos when he entered and it even got louder when he was part of the final three with Orton and Bray Wyatt. In reality, Reigns is the babyface and the fans should cheer him to beat both members of the heel Wyatt Family.
However, Reigns is the most polarizing figure in the WWE at the moment. The WWE also achieved two things on the Rumble regarding Reigns. The report noted that the WWE also set up The Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns match.
WWE rumors have been linking the two superstars to a big match at WrestleMania 33. The match has been frowned upon by many wrestling fans but it will happen no matter what. Vince McMahon is looking to make it happen for a very long time.
Even Stone Cold Steve Austin enjoyed Reigns being the No. 30 entrant. He discussed in the latest episode of The Steve Austin Show podcast that he thought the booking was fantastic and he was really happy with the outcome of the 2017 Royal Rumble Match.
"I smelled a rat from the beginning and I just couldn't believe what I was going to end up seeing. He goes to charge Randy Orton, spear, and, of course, Randy Orton connects with an RKO. Boom. Over the top rope. Randy wins. I thought Roman Reigns in the 30 spot was a fantastic idea and great booking," Austin said.
