The latest WWE rumors have revealed that Triple H could face Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 33. The WWE was hit by the injury bug once again two months before the biggest event of the year with Seth Rollins going down with an injury.
As reported by FOX Sports, Rollins suffered a torn right MCL on his surgically-repaired knee last week on Monday Night Raw. It happened during the attack by the debuting Samoa Joe and WWE rumors backstage indicate that Rollins is out for eight weeks.
"The Architect" was scheduled to face Triple H at WrestleMania 33 but his injury forced WWE to come up with a new opponent for "The Game". According to Daily Wrestling News, Vince McMahon and the WWE creative team have devised backup plans for Triple H.
The report noted that one of the possible opponents for Triple H is his brother-in-law, Shane. WWE rumors have already linked "Shane-O-Mac" to a match with A.J. Styles at WrestleMania 33 but that seems to be on the backburner due to Rollins' injury.
It is still unclear what the plans for Triple H but WWE rumors will surely pop up until an official opponent is announced. Other possible opponents for "The Game" include Batista and Samoa Joe. Rollins is still an option if he can be healthy before WrestleMania 33
However, as much as fans want to see Rollins come back early, the WWE needs to be smart about his return since it's his second knee injury in the last two years. Triple H vs. Shane McMahon is the best way to go since they have a history of not liking each other personally.
WWE rumors late last year revealed that there is backstage heat between the brothers-in-law, per Cageside Seats. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon reportedly hated Shane coming back to the WWE because all their hard work could be in jeopardy.
Nevertheless, these are just WWE rumors at the moment and nothing has been confirmed. The WWE tends to change their plans if information gets leaked online. Triple H vs. Shane McMahon is a good backup just in case Rollins is officially ruled out of WrestleMania 33.
