In the last two seasons, the Brooklyn Nets are struggling to get more wins. Although they reached the playoffs in 2015, they were easily eliminated by the Atlanta Hawks in the first round. And last year, they didn't make the playoffs and finished the season as the second worst team in the East. They have a combined 59-105 win-loss record in the past two seasons.

And this season, it looks like the Nets will end up again as one of the worst teams in the NBA. With an 8-31 record, they are the worst team in the NBA right now. They currently hold the longest active losing streak in the NBA as they lost nine straight games.

Because of this, speculations say that one of the Nets' best players Brook Lopez might be traded. According to ESPN, Brook Lopez might be traded to Portland Trailblazers.

The Nets are on pace to finish the season as the worst team in the NBA. This only means that there is a high chance that they will get the first overall pick in this year's draft. But the problem is their first round draft pick for 2017 was owned by the Boston Celtics. In fact, they will not have a first-round pick until the 2019 NBA Draft, as further discussed by ESPN.

So trading some of their players for a first round draft pick is really possible. And because the Blazers can still make the playoffs in the competitive Western Conference, the team is one of the possible destinations for Lopez. They also have the right assets to pursue a big time player like Lopez.

With an 18-24 win-loss record, the Blazers are still holding on into the 8th spot in the West. But other teams like the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans are not far behind. And for the Blazers to have a better chance of reaching the playoffs, they need to upgrade their roster.

They already have one of the best backcourt duos in the NBA in Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum. What the Blazers need to do is to upgrade their center. And Brook Lopez might be the player that the Blazers are looking for.

Now on his ninth NBA season, Lopez is still playing at a very high level basketball. In 523 NBA regular season games, Lopez is averaging 18.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists. But this season, he is averaging 20.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists, as per BASKETBALL REFERENCE.

If Lopez will play alongside Lillard and McCollum, the Blazers will become a dangerous team. Lillard and McCollum are good outside shooters. And Lopez is a very good scorer from the inside. Lopez can also hit mid-range and occasionally shoot three-pointers.

As of now, no negotiations have been done between the Blazers and Nets. But if the Blazers will get Lopez, there's a high probability that they could make the playoffs this year. Will Brook Lopez be traded to the Portland Trailblazers?
