Manchester United have trumped Liverpool in the standings for decades. Now, the club is looking to do the same in the transfer market. Unfortunately, the potential move doesn't bode well for Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez.

Below are the latest transfer rumors surrounding Old Trafford.

Christian Benteke

Liverpool are favorites to sign Christian Benteke from Aston Villa, but the club is still unwilling to to meet his £32.5 million buyout clause. According to the Daily Mail, that stubbornness has opened the window for Manchester United. Per the report, United are monitoring Benteke's position and are considering taking on Liverpool in the race for his services.

Villa manager Tim Sherwood, however, believes the striker will remain a key part of the team next season.

"I don't think Christian would pull a sulk or anything like that," said Sherwood. "He knows there's too much at stake. He respects the club too much. I'm confident that in my mind he's a huge part of next season. He's going to be very important for us."

"A lot of teams have sold their one player, Gareth Bale, Luis Suarez, and then tried to get the same results by bringing in six or seven," he added. "It doesn't happen, does it?"

Javier Hernandez

The arrival of Benteke leaves no room for Javier Hernandez—not that there ever was any—at Manchester United. According to the Daily Mail, there is room for him at West Ham United.

Per the report, the West London Club is expected to make an £8 million offer for the 27-year-old. Roma, Galatasaray, Besiktas and VfL Wolfsburg are monitoring Hernandez as well.

Angel Di Maria and Edinson Cavani

In a move that would even be rejected in the latest Football Manager, Manchester United are considering a swap move to sign Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain. According to the Express, United would offer Angel Di Maria in return.
